FAQ

  1. My practice is at 4611 N. Ravenswood Avenue in Chicago, on the corner of Wilson Ave. and Ravenswood Avenue. It is just one block east of the Ravenswood Metra Station and a 10-minute walk from the Damen CTA Brown Line station.

You will find easy street parking, and if you prefer to park on the residential street, I will provide you with a residential parking permit.

  2. Online therapy is conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, so you can attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Before each appointment, you will receive a secure link to join using your computer, tablet, or smartphone. No complicated setup is required.

  3. Getting started is simple. Reaching out for the first time can take courage, and I want what follows to feel easy. Reach out through the contact form, email, or phone to schedule your first appointment, and from there we will take it one conversation at a time.

  4. A free initial phone consultation is a brief call where we can connect before scheduling the first appointment. It is a chance for you to ask questions, share a little about what you're looking for, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.

  5. Most therapy sessions last 50 minutes. This provides enough time to explore what is on your mind, work toward your goals, and end the session with a clear sense of direction.

  6. Much of my work centers on trauma, and I draw on approaches like EMDR, Prolonged Exposure, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy depending on what you need. With EMDR, the goal is to help your brain finally file away painful memories so they stop ambushing you in the present.

Therapy is real work, and I think of my role a little like holding a flashlight in a dark cave. I light the way so you can walk through it, rather than telling you where to walk. Does that make sense?

  7. I work with adolescents and adults. I provide support for adolescents who are navigating emotional challenges, stress, school pressures, and identity development, as well as adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My approach is tailored to each client's individual needs.

  8. Yes, I accept several insurance plans. If you are unsure whether yours is accepted, reach out and I will be happy to help you verify your benefits.

  9. If you've been asking yourself that question, it is worth exploring.

Therapy isn't just for crises. It is also for people who want to understand themselves better, improve relationships, manage stress, or simply find their footing again. You don't have to wait until things get overwhelming.

  10. Think of it as a conversation. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, and what you'd like to accomplish. There are no right or wrong answers, and you don't have to tell your entire life story in one day.

  11. That is completely alright. Therapy moves at your pace. You never have to discuss anything before you are ready, and we will build the tools and confidence to approach difficult topics together and safely.

  12. That depends on your goals. Some people benefit from short-term, focused therapy, while others appreciate longer-term work. We will check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to meet your needs.

  13. The relationship between therapist and client is one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy.

If after a few sessions it doesn't feel like the right fit, we will talk openly about it. My priority is helping you find the support that is best for you.

  14. I hold a master's and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Adler University. I have worked with veterans in various VA settings and received training in PTSD treatment modalities from the National Center for PTSD, along with VA trainings over the years including Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR.

  15. Only if you are really, really tired. I have a very comfy couch, but I will encourage you to sit so that we can have a face-to-face conversation. Most sessions are simply two people having a thoughtful conversation, sitting comfortably in our chairs (or in your own comfortable chair when meeting securely online).

  16. You are more than welcome to ask about me, my background, my training, or my approach to therapy. I don't shy away from self-disclosure when it is clinically relevant.

That said, therapy is designed to focus on your goals and your well-being. If a question is very personal or not relevant to your treatment, I might not answer it, or I might explore what prompted the question instead.

  17. I never miss my morning cup of coffee, dark roast with a little cream. You can choose your own drink when you come into my office, no judgment. Fortunately, therapy itself doesn't require caffeine, just curiosity, honesty, and a willingness to grow.
